Bobtail is a large ensemble formed in 2012 by bandleader Alicia Gardener-Trejo. Their debut EP 'Frolic' encompasses compositions from all of the band's projects to date.
The Couch and the Serpent/Broadwood Reprise and Vicky hail from the Sybil Suite based on Flora Rheta Schreiber's novel about a women possessed by 16 separate personalities. Frolic and Til Varen are taken from the Seasons Suite inspired by the poetry of the likes of Robert Burns and Dylan Thomas. The sextet piece Macduff's Palace is a Giuffre-inspired piece straying from the 11-piece line up of the rest of the album.
